Claude “Roby” Robillard passed away at his home after a long illness on Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2008. He was 68 years old. Roby, a nickname he received while in the Air Force, was born in Montreal Canada, the son of the late George and Rose Robillard. He grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He enlisted in the Air Force on his 18th Birthday. He served for 4 years during the Vietnam War as an Airman First Class with the 551st AEW&Con Wing. Following Roby’s military service he earned his Electrician’s License as well as becoming a member of the National Elevator Industry. He worked in the elevator industry for most of his working career. He had retired from the National Elevator Company, but had also worked at Schindler Elevator and Otis Elevator over his career. Roby had a keen mind for mechanics and a great skill with tools. He could fix anything and always had a supply of spare parts and tools in his workshop. He was extremely independent and was always ready to take on any project. He was also very willing to lend a helping hand to a family member, friend or neighbor who needed a helping hand. It wasn’t unusual to have Roby at your home first thing in the morning with his tools in his truck and a plan to tackle the task. Roby was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a worked hard to be a good provider to his wife and children. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his children and grandchildren. He was blessed to have been able to have spent a significant amount of time with his grandchildren in his retirement years. He patiently let his grandchildren assist with his tasks even if the repair would take twice as long because a young grandchild wanted to be his helper. Roby was the beloved husband of Maureen G. (Tuohey) Robillard. He was the loving father of Loreen & her husband Dale Perron of Billerica, Charleen Riley of Fairhaven, Michael Robillard & his wife Charlotte of Wrentham, the late Maureen Robillard and Cathleen Moccia.
