Obituary of Richard Kane
Richard F. Kane, a retired Supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts passed away after a brief illness at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday morning, March 30, 2008.
Dick was born in Wilmington, Massachusetts, the son of the late John and Esther Kane. He grew up and was educated in Somerville. He graduated from Somerville High School in 1945. He had resided in West Roxbury, Roslindale, and Somerville before settling in Burlington in 1977. Dick had worked for 30 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as the Supervisor of Central Reproduction Services. Dick was an active member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus and was a member of the K of C’s Bingo Committee. He was a member of Burlington’s Historical Society and was a former member of the Moose. He was an avid sports fan. Dick loved animals especially cats and dogs.
Dick was the husband of the late Patricia (Buckley) Kane, who passed away in 1990. He was the brother of Vincent Kane of FL & ME, Althea Hill of Somerville, the late Colette Cassidy, and John Kane. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 2 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at Noon. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Dick’s name may be made to the Burlington Knights of Columbus Exceptional Children’s Fund, P.O. Box 25, Burlington, MA 01803.
