Obituary of Harry Enos

Harry E. Enos, former Assistant Superintendent of the Burlington Cemetery Department passed away suddenly on Friday morning, April 4, 2008. He was 67 years old. Harry was born in Somerville, the son of the late George and Eunice Enos. He grew up and was educated in Medford. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War earning the rank of Lance Corporal and receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Marine for Life. He proudly supported the Military through his involvement in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Burlington and Lakes Region Detachments of Marine Corp League, and the Mass Pack 2 Devil Dogs. He flew American and Marine Corp Flags in his front yard. He represented the Marines at parades, Memorial and Veteran’s Days ceremonies, and numerous other events. He supported for the Toys for Tots program for over 40 years. He was a Trustee of the Burlington Detachment of the MCL and Past Vice-Commandant of the Lakes Region MCL in Laconia, NH. He was proud to be a Veteran. Harry had worked for the Burlington Department of Public Works from 1977 to his retirement in 2001. He was the Assistant Superintendent of the Burlington Cemeteries for the last portion of his career. He took great pride in maintaining the cemetery grounds and he treated those who had suffered a loss with great respect and compassion. He had previously worked as a truck driver for 15 years in his families trucking firm, Bert P. Williams Trucking in Medford. Harry had a number of other interests. He played adult softball in Burlington’s Recreation League. He was an assistant coach for Medford’s Girls Softball League. He enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time in New Hampshire. He enjoyed traveling and Hawaii was of his most favorite destinations. He enjoyed maintaining his home and yard. He was a member of the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Harry was the beloved husband of Helena E. (Veno) Enos. He was the brother of George Enos, Jr., & his wife Sally of Haverhill, Robert Enos & his wife Helen of Billerica, Earl Enos & his wife Michele of W. Palm Beach, FL, Lee Enos & his wife Nancy of Medford, and the late Loretta Chambers. He was also survived by many nieces, nephew, and in-laws. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
