Obituary of Irene Colby

Irene Stella Colby passed away after a long illness at the Winchester Hospital on Saturday afternoon, April 19, 2008. She was 89 years old. Her death was preceded by the death of her husband of 68 years last month. Irene was born and raised in Chicopee. Her father, Stanley Maryanski, was a Polish immigrant and her mother, Victoria Maryanski, was an Austrian immigrant. She had lived in Burlington with her daughter and her family for the past 2 years. She had previously resided in Medford for 57 years. Irene’s life was devoted to her husband and her family. She took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She made a loving home that was always filled with family, friends, music, laughter, and delicious foods. He enjoyed to sew, crochet, and knit. Her family was the recipient of the many treasures she created. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed sharing her Polish dishes at her kitchen table. She loved to dance and often participated in the line dancing programs offered at the Malden, Saugus, and Medford Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Moose with her husband. Irene was the beloved wife of late John Colby. She was the loving mother of Beverly Cain of Middleton & her husband the late Craig Cain, Roberta & her husband Frank Bramante of Middleton, Jaclynn & her husband Tony Sulfaro of Burlington, Correne & her husband Robert Fonzi of Wakefield. She was the sister of Connie Tedesco of FL and the late Evelyn Ware, Raymond and Joseph Maryanski. Irene was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at Noon. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private.
