Obituary of Silvio von Pirquet

Dr. Silvio Rudolf von Pirquet passed away at Rivercrest Long Term Care Facility in Concord, on Friday morning, April 21, 2006. He was 87 years old. Dr. von Pirquet was born, raised and educated in Vienna, Austria. He was the son of the late Silverio and Johanna von Pirquet. He came to the United States in 1953 on a Fellowship. He first settled in Boston and then moved to Belmont in 1959. He was one of the founding partners of Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, which was established in 1969. Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston provides patients with eye care, laser and surgical treatment. Dr. von Pirquet served the community for over 40 years as an Ophthalmologist. Dr. von Pirquet had numerous interests. He enjoyed photography and listening to music, especially Mozart. He loved the outdoors whether it be fishing or gardening. He loved growing flowers especially camellias. He was also fascinated by clocks, and pocket watches. Dr. von Pirquet is the beloved husband of Gertrude “Trude” (Rosenauer). He is the loving father of Flora Pirquet & her husband Gary Beckmann of Arlington, and Nora Pirquet & her husband Raymond Froehlich of San Francisco, CA. Grandfather of Agnes Beckmann & Michaela Beckmann both of Arlington and Owen Froehlich & Lukas Froehlich both of San Francisco, CA. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington on Monday evening, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. A Visiting hour will be held at St. Malachy’s Church from 6 - 7 p.m. Donations in Silvio’s name may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, Development Dept.
