Obituary of Jane Huggins

Jane A (Galleguillos) Huggins, a loving mother, sister, and daughter, passed away from a long battle with diabetes on Thursday morning, May 1, 2008. She was 52 years old. Jane’s mother met her father, an U.S. Air Force servicemen stationed in Chile. They married and soon started a family with the birth of Jane. The family returned to the United States where Jane’s father was stationed at Burlington’s Nike Missile Installation. The family would grow to 7 children all growing up in the Winnmere section of Burlington. She wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps as a member of the US Air Force. Jane was the first female to graduate from Burlington High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC Program. She took great pride in her cadet service as an Officer and member of the color guard participating in numerous parades and special events while in High School. After graduating from Burlington High School in 1975 she enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. She had also had served at Chanute Air Force Base, in Illinois. She took pride in her service to her country, but she eventually chose motherhood over a career in the military. Jane had lived in Lynn for many years before moving to Caribou Maine. She moved to Woburn this past January to be closer to her family during her illness. Jane had worked for several years at the Burlington Marriott in the Engineering Department. She also worked at Kings Lynn in Lynn, MA as a Engineer where she was responsible for the maintenance of the building. She enjoyed maintaining and landscaping the hotels property. She was a compassionate woman, who always wanted to help those in need. She volunteered her time driving Special Needs children and adults. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. She enjoyed playing darts and singing karaoke with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt and will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Jane was the loving mother of Scott Hendrix of Wakefield and Robert Hendrix of Elon, NC. She was the daughter of Alicia Flores & her husband Juan Flores of Woburn and the late Rudolph Galleguillos. She was the sister of Rudolph Galleguillos of CA, Albert Galleguillos of Tewksbury, Patricia Martin of PA, Sonia Parks of Woburn, Rita Race of Billerica, and the late Frances Galleguillos. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, May 5 at 8:30 p.m. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-8:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jane’s name may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Center,, Attention Development Office, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
