Obituary of John Watson

John C. Watson passed away after a long illness at the Life Care Center in Acton on Friday evening, May 23, 2008. The son of the late Harold and Evelyn Watson, he was 57 years old. John was born with Down’s Syndrome. Despite his handicap, he lived a happy life with the support of family, councilors, and friends. He grew up in Brighton where his mother lovingly watched over him. He eventually made the big transition to move to a men’s group home where he learned to live independently. He worked for a number of years as a clerk at Stop & Shop in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain. John appreciated the simple things in life like; going to the movies, listening to music, dancing, sharing a cup of coffee and a chocolate donut at Dunkin Donuts. He was a huge fan of Lucille Ball especially in her television series, “I Love Lucy.” He will be lovingly remembered. John was the son of the late Harold and Evelyn (Harrison) Watson. He was the loving brother of Donna Watson of Burlington, Nancy Bannister of Londonderry, NH, Wayne Durkin of Burlington, and the late Donald Watson. Uncle of Stephen, Erik, & Brian Durkin, Judy Philip, Sandy Wellman, Donald Watson,Jr, David Watson, and Heidi Feeley. Also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private.
