Obituary of Diane Simmons

Diane M. Simmons passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, May 5, 2006. A resident of Burlington for 33 years, she was 59 years old. Diane was born and raised in Chicopee. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Imelda Douville. Diane was a graduate of Precious Blood High School in Holyoke. She went on to graduate from Holyoke Community College. Diane and her husband Ed settled in Burlington where they raised their three children. She had a career as an LPN and worked at both the Glendale Nursing Home in Woburn and the Woburn Nursing Home before retiring. Diane loved her career in medicine and dedicated her life to caring and helping people. Whether you were a friend or a patient she was always there for you. She enjoyed walking, cooking, and was an avid reader. Diane was very family oriented. Her life centered around her husband, children, and her three grandchildren. Diane is the beloved wife of Edward G. Simmons. She is the loving mother of Kristen Roberts of Lowell, Jennifer & her husband Jeff Araujo of Tyngsboro, and Scott Simmons & his wife Barbra of Peabody. She is the sister of Joyce Gorman of Granby and Patricia & her husband Mike Garvey of Chicopee and sister-in-law of Pauline & Jack Dee of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is the loving grandmother of Chloe Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Emma Araujo. Dear friend of Betsey Small of Burlington. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, May 10 at 8:00 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 9:00 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Diane’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
