Obituary of Ida Verbanas
Ida (Piccinini) Verbanas, a resident of Burlington for 45 years, passed away at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Wednesday morning, October 29, 2008. The beloved wife of 62 years of Paul Verbanas, she would have celebrated her 88 birthday on Sunday, November 2.
Ida was born, raised and educated in Lugo Italy. She was the daughter of the late Supremo and Anna Piccinini. Ida met her husband Paul as an American G.I. stationed in Italy during World War II. They married in Italy and settled in East Boston prior to moving to Burlington in 1963. Ida came to the United States by boat accompanied by a number of other young brides. During the trip to America these women developed friendships that would last throughout their lives.
Ida worked for many years as an Administrator in the Shipping Department at Raytheon in Burlington. She was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. Ida’s family was her passion in life and she was devoted to her husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
For 62 years Ida was the wife of devoted husband Paul Verbanas. She is the loving mother of Carol Buccieri & her husband Sal of Boxford and Robert Verbanas of Burlington. She is the cherished grandmother of Dina Buccieri, Joanna Tilden, Andrea Carbone, & David Buccieri. She great grandmother of Elise Tilden, Sam Tilden, & Andy Carbone.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
