Obituary of Brother Gedick

William Brother Gedick, co-owner of Gedick Brothers & Sons Plumbing Co. passed away, after a long illness, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Bedford on Friday afternoon, November 21, 2008. He was 79 years old. Brother was born and raised in Somerville. He was a graduate of Somerville High School. He served in the Army during The Korean War holding the rank of Corporal. He worked as a plumber his entire career. He had worked with his family at Gedick Plumbing and Heating and later with Gedick Brothers & Sons. He had a strong work ethic and treated clients as he would like to be treated, which lead to many loyal customers. Brother had a number of interests. He enjoyed playing the saxaphone and clarinet. He played professionally at weddings and other functions throughout his life with numerous “Big Bands” as well as smaller groups. He had his pilot’s license and owned his own plane, which he kept in Tewksbury. He loved sharing his passion of flying with his family and friends. Brother’s most prized possession was that of his family. He was married for 49 years to his wife Marcia. They raised 5 children, teaching them by example the importance of hard work, family, and humilty. He was blessed to have 18 grandchildren, whom he adored. Brother was the beloved husband of Marcia A. (Dunn) Gedick of Burlington. He was a loving father of William Gedick & his wife Karen of Billerica, Donna Manie & her husband Michael of Lowell, Linda Cain & her fiance Michael Capodilupo of Tewksbury, John Gedick & his wife Barbara of Billerica, and Barbara McClay & her husband Wayne of Moultonboro, NH. He was the brother of Claire Tracey of Woburn, Donald Gedick & his wife Marilyn of Burlington, the late Richard & Robert Gedick. He was the stepbrother of Elwood “Al” Noyes & his wife Joan of Burlington. Brother was also survived by 18 grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
