Obituary of Paul Shwab

Paul R. Shwab, a longtime resident of Woburn who had lived in Windham, NH for the past four years, passed away at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. The husband of Mary (Harron) Shwab, he was 74 years old. Paul was born in Somerville. He was the son of polish immigrants, the late John and Mary Shwab. He lived in Somerville for 12 years before moving to Woburn where he resided for 58 years. He was a graduate of Woburn High School. Paul was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Paul worked his entire career for the Registry of Deeds in Cambridge where he held the position of Supervisor in the Planning Department. After retiring from the Registry of Deeds, he was a courier for Northern Bank. Paul led an active and full life. He enjoyed hunting in Vermont. He enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Maine and especially enjoyed going to Biddeford Pool and Boothbay Harbor. He was an avid golfer and frequently golfed at the Sandy Burr Golf course in Wayland. He also enjoyed playing cards especially poker. He also coached basketball for the Woburn Church League. Paul is the beloved husband of Mary (Harron). He is the loving father of Paula M. Shwab of Woburn, Pamela L. (Giles) Giordano & her husband Richard J. of Londonderry, NH, and Patricia E. Shwab of Woburn. He is the brother of John & his wife Shirley of Alexandria, VA and the late Susan Shwab. He is the loving grandfather of Jessica, Jonathan, & James Giles of Londonderry, NH. Paul is the uncle & Godfather of Karen L. Cox of Alexandria, VA. Funeral services will be held at the North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., Woburn on Monday, Dec. 1 at 12:30 PM. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials in Paul’s name may be made to North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., Woburn, MA 01801.
