Obituary of Ann Colby
Ann D. (Donovan) Colby, a resident of Burlington for 40 years, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, November 27, 2008. She was 67 years old.
Ann was born, raised and educated in Arlington. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Catherine Donovan. She was a graduate of chandler Business School. Ann had a very successful career as an Executive Secretary working for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Charrette, and Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Ann was a Red Sox and Patriots fan and she also enjoyed following tennis.
Ann’s life centered around her community, faith, and family. She was active in the community of Burlington. She was a town meeting member and was a volunteer at the Burlington Food Pantry. Ann was woman of deep faith. She attended daily Mass at St. Margaret’s Church in Burlington. She had also taught religious education and was a volunteer for Heartbeat. Ann was also an active in St. Basil’s Salvatorian Center in Methuen. She was a devoted and caring mother and a proud grandmother. She inspired her family with her generous heart that filled her home with love and faith. She leaves her 3 sons and 7 grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved and they know that she loved the Lord.
Ann was the wife of Robert Colby of Dracut. Loving mother of Mark Colby of Burlington, Steven Colby & his wife Colleen of Andover, and David Colby & his wife Kelly of Newburyport. She was the cherished grandmother of Moorea, Noah, Chloe & Sophie of Andover and Kaitlyn, Olivia & John of Newburyport.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations in Ann’s name may be made to People Helping People, P.
