Obituary of Sandra Preble

Sandra (Gomes) Preble, a resident of Burlington for 38 years, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, December 4, 2008. The wife of Leland L. Preble and the late John Hart, she was 86 years old. Sandra was born in the town of Jaraguari in Mato Grosso, Brazil. She was one of 14 children born to the late Modesto and Francisca Gomes. She was raised and educated on the family farm in Brazil. She had worked as a beautician and a real estate agent while living in Brazil. Sandra came to the United States in 1965 to be with her daughter, Stelita. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Sandra’s life revolved around her family and her faith in God. She was extremely active at the Park Street Church in Boston specifically the FOCUS ministry. The Focus ministry to International Students and Scholars offers friendship and faith-based service opportunities to international students, scholars and their families. Sandra opened her home to those alone in the country. During the holidays she would have 40 to 50 guests to her home so that they would not be alone. She was an extremely generous woman. The other center of her life was that of family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was blessed to have lived a full life that spanned 86 years. Sandra is the beloved wife of wife of Leland L. Preble and the late John Hart. She is the loving mother of Stelita M. Cronin & her husband John J. of Auburndale, Marlena Martins of Burlington, and Marli Wright & her husband Richard of Ft. Myers, FL. She is the grandmother of Christine Allcock, Kenneth Cronin, Silvia Giordiano, Flavio Giordano, and the late Louis Carlos Giordano, Jr. Sandra is also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
