Obituary of Frank Gengo

Frank A. Gengo, a resident of Burlington for the past 42 years, passed away at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. The husband of Jacqueline Jackie (Yanniello), he was 78 years old. Frank was born in Scranton, PA, the son of the late Angelo and Alice Gengo. He grew up in Scranton and was a graduate of West Scranton High School. He also earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University. Frank served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He held the rank of Airman First Class and was the recipient of the UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He worked for 28 years as an technical writer at GTE,working extensively on defense projects. Frank interests included science, computers, investing, jazz, dancing, theater, and music. Franks life focused on community, church, and family. He coached Burlington Recreation Basketball. He was the Advancement Chairman for the Boy Scouts in Burlington, guiding and counseling Boy Scouts in their quest to achieve the honor of Eagle Scout. He was extremely active in St. Malachys Church as a Teacher, Confirmation Director, Bible Study member, and Eucharistic minister. He also organized lunch hour Bible studies at GTE. Frank considered his most significant achievement in his life was his 48-year marriage to his wife Jacqueline, his children and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his family, and cherished the time spent with them. He will be lovingly remembered. Frank was the husband of Jacqueline Jackie (Yanniello) Gengo of Burlington. He was the loving father of Ronald & his wife Diane of Waltham, Laura Haggerty & her husband James of Woburn, Tina Humphreys & her husband Marc of Acton, & Gary of Burlington. Brother of Charlotte Cosentini of Scranton, PA. Grandfather of Joseph Barrett Gengo, Kevin, Gail, David & Ryan Humphreys. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachys Church, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
