Obituary of Evelyn Peters-Hennessey
Evelyn (Carroll) Peters-Hennessey, a resident of Burlington since 1940, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 18, 2008 at the Woburn Nursing Center, with her family at her side. She was 91 years old.
Evelyn was born in Waltham. She was raised and educated in Waltham graduating from St. Charles High School in Waltham. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Carroll. Evelyn worked at the Union School as a Cafeteria worker she then went on to become the Food Director for the Burlington School Department. She was one of the founding members of the Burlington Country Club. Evelyn’s life centered around her family. She loved spending time with her four granddaughters and in later years her 6 great grandchildren.
Evelyn is the beloved wife of the W. Calvin Peters and the late Raymond Hennessey. She is the loving mother of Kenneth R. Peters & his wife Martha of Orrington, ME and Evelyn J. Steadman & her husband Richard of Burlington. Sister of the late Edward Carroll, Jr. Jack Carroll, Alice Walsh-Morrill & M. Esther Devaney. Evelyn is the grandmother of Julie Tschumperlin & her husband Dan of Norfolk, Kathi Cryan & her husband Tom of Hudson, NH, Melissa Piantidosi & her husband Peter of Lexington, and Nancy DiCiccio & her husband Michael of Billerica. Evelyn is the great grandmother of Brendan & Sean Cryan, Nicholas & Anthony DiCiccio, Kate Tschumperlin, & Ava Rose Piantidosi.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Evelyn’s name may be made to St. Margaret’s Church Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA
