Obituary of Jane Correia

Lora “Jane” (Slack) Correia, passed away after a short illness at the Winchester Hospital on Christmas morning. She was 90 years old. Jane was born in Medford, the daughter of the late Ernest and Laura Slack. She was one of eleven children. After the death of her mother, she left school to help maintain the family home and raise her younger brothers and sisters. She continued this role of family caregiver thoughout her entire life. In later years, Jane became the unofficial “Matriarch” of the Slack family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to a family member or friend. She knew the family history and geneology. Jane and her husband Robert had resided in Somerville prior to settling in Burlington in 1980. They were one of the original residents of the Tower Hill Apartments on Birchcrest. She enjoyed crafts and ceramics. Jane’s primary role in life was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was blessed to have a life that spanned 90 years filled with the love of her family. Jane was the beloved wife of the late Robert Henry Correia. She was the loving mother of Dianne M. Dykens & her husband Robert of Tewksbury. She was the caring sister of Donald & Warren Slack of CA, the late Marion Vaughn, Florence Perron, Louise Hachey, Harry Slack, Ernest Slack, Jr. and Richard Slack. She was the proud grandmother of Jennifer A. Hankins & her husband Scott of Tewksbury and Sean R. Dykens & his wife Linda of Goffstown, NH and great grandmother of Emily & Kevin Hankins and Conor Dykens. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Tuesday, December 30th at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Visiting hours omitted.
