Obituary of Patricia Markey

Patricia A. (Silk) Markey, a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother passed away after a brief illness on Monday evening, May 15, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was 74 years old. Patricia was born in Arlington, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Coughlin) Silk. She grew up and was educated in Arlington. In her early 20’s she married Charles A. Markey and they started their life together in Somerville. As their family started to grow, they settled in Burlington in 1966 to raise their 4 daughters. She embraced her role of homemaker, wife and mother. She knew the importance of family and cherished raising and being actively involved in her daughters’ lives. She was their biggest fan and created many special childhood memories, especially those summers spent at Hampton Beach, NH, attending various sporting events and shopping with her daughters. She was blessed to have 9 grandchildren whom she adored. She was an active parishioner at St. Margaret’s Church and assisted in the Confirmation and First Communion lessons at the church. As her children got older, Patricia went back to work. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant at M/A Com in Burlington. She finished her working career as a loan officer at a local bank. Patricia is the loving wife of 51 years of Charles A. Markey. She is the loving mother of Patti Ann Belinsky of Westford, Kathleen Markey of Longmont, CO, Mary Ouellette of Chelmsford, and Susan DiGangi of Bedford. She is the sister of Mary Lou Burke of Woburn, Noreen Payne of Orlando, FL and Elaine Hall of Niceville, FL. She is the devoted grandmother of Brandon & Justin Belinsky, Shannon & Caitlin Ouellette, Michael & Mathew Greenlee, Dylan & Danielle DiGangi and Alison Cambridge. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, May 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Patricia’s name may be made to the St. Margaret’s Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
