Obituary of Ellen Allen

Ellen E. (Silk) Allen, passed away at her home in Wakefield on Friday morning, January 16, 2009. The wife of the late James H. Allen, she was 87 years old. Ellen was born in Somerville. She one of seven children born to the late William and Norah Silk. Ellen was raised and educated in Somerville and Cambridge. After marrying her husband James they settled in Burlington for a number of years before moving Watertown. She had recently moved to Wakefield to live with her son and his family. Ellen devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home for her husband and three children. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She has taken a number of trips to Ireland as well as Florida. Ellen was blessed to have a wonderful 87 years of life filled with the love of family and friends. Ellen was the beloved wife of the late James H. Allen. She was the loving mother of Eileen Locke of Charlestown, James Allen & his wife Dianne of Wakefield, and the late Patricia A. White. She was the mother-in-law of the late George Locke. Ellen was the sister of the late Agnes Fenton. Caroline Picone, William Silk, Elizabeth Polavic, Richard Silk & Joseph Silk. Ellen was the grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 8. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Cambridge Cemetery.
