Obituary of Marjorie Scott

Marjorie “Peg” L. (Nickerson) Scott, passed away at the Southern Regional Hospital in Georgia, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. The wife of the late Robert H. Scott, she was 80 years old. Peg was born, raised and educated in Reading. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Marjorie Nickerson. Peg and her husband Robert settled in Burlington in 1965 where they raised their 3 children. She worked part-time at John Hancock and Zayres/Ames Dept. Store. However, her primary role in life was that of wife, mother and aunt. Peg enjoyed many friendships in the town of Burlington. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ Congregational. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Peg moved to Atlanta with her daughter Vicki and her family five years ago. She would return to the Burlington area during the summers. Family was the most important part of Peg’s life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt that will be deeply missed. Peg was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. She was the loving mother of James Scott and his wife Antionen of NC, Robert Scott & his wife Kate of Woburn, and Vicki Bishop & her husband Rich of GA. She was the sister of Bob Nickerson and Alan Nickerson both of Reading and the late Charles, Frank and Ralph Nickerson. Peg was the grandmother of Brandon and Brianna Scott & Jake and Cole Bishop. She was the cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Jan. 23 at 12 Noon. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorials in Peg’s name may be made to the United Church of Christ Congregation, 6 Lexington St., Burlington, MA 01803 & the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
