Obituary of Charles Lombard
Charles M. Lombard, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home on Saturday evening, March 7, 2009. The husband of the late Viola (Georgoulakos) he was 98 years old.
Mr. Lombard was born in Du Bois, PA. He was the son of Italian immigrants the late Michael and Pascolina Lombard. Mr. Lombard was a veteran of World War II serving his country in the United States Army where he participated in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon. He worked at Tech-Ops in Burlington as a clerk. He and his late wife Viola had also operated the food court at Beggs & Cobb, which was a tannery in Winchester. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and sharing the fruits of his work with his family and friends. He was blessed to have a life that spanned 98 years filled with many special times spent with his wife, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Lombard is the beloved husband of the late Viola (Georgoulakos). He is the loving father of Elaine Conner of Long Island, NY, Charles M. Lombard, Jr. & his wife Claire of Woburn, Christine & her husband William Chapman of Woburn. He is the brother of the late Samuel and Michael Lombard, Tina Young, & Margaret Amari-Andrade. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt.128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, March 11 at 10 a.m.. Followed by a Funeral Mass at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, Woburn at 11 a.m.. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
