Obituary of Frank Hasek

Frank J. Hasek, a devoted son, brother, and special uncle, passed away suddenly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Sunday night, March 22, 2009. He was 57 years old. Frank was born in Budapest, Hungary. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 5 years old. He graduated from Maynard High School and had made Burlington his home for the past 22 years. Frank had worked as a computer technician for Welch’s for 15 years and had just recently retired Frank made the most of his 57 years. He had many adventures including going to 4 Superbowls, 4 Celtics World Championships, many World Cup Games (Men’s and Women’s), 2 Olympics and 12 Mardi Gras. He attended a Rolling Stones concert at a 300 seat bar in Worcester in 1981. Last year’s Superbowl vacation was a trip of a lifetime. He spent 3 weeks with his nephew, Bela, sitting on the 5 yard line of the Superbowl game, then visiting the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. He traveled all over North America and frequently visited relatives in Canada. Frank was a caring son. He had an extremely close bond with his brother, Bela, and his family. He was at Bela’s home as much as his own home. He was like a second father to his nephew Bela and niece Katy and was known as “Uncle Frank” by all their friends. He was always on the sidelines of their soccer, basketball, and lacrosse games ever since they were small children. He saw all of Katy’s Endicott College soccer games this past season. He supported Bela and Katy in all their activities and achievements. Frank’s other interests and activities included volunteering for the New England Revolution, Boston Breakers and Bay State Games, going to hundreds of Celtics, Bruins and Patriots games, playing cards on Tuesday nights with his long time friends (over 41 years), playing chess, music, especially the Beatles, and his collection of comic books. He will be lovingly remembered by all his family and friends. Frank was the son of Frank A. and Margot Hasek of Framingham. He was the brother of Bela C. Hasek & his wife Kathy of Burlington. He was the very special uncle of Bela C. Hasek, II and Katy F. Hasek both of Burlington. He was the nephew of Johny Gyorgy of Gothenburg, Sweden and Ilona Gyory of Budapest, Hungary and cousin of Helen Babel, Leslie Babel both of Toronto, Canada, Barbara Odler of Budapest, Hungary and Johnny Odler of Gothenburg, Sweden. A Memorial Wake will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, March 28 from Noon to 2 p.m. Followed by a Memorial Service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
