Obituary of Margaret Matarazzo

Margaret P. “Peggy” (Gill) Matarazzo, a resident of Burlington for 42 years, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Monday morning, April 6, 2009. The beloved of wife of 53 years of Robert S. she was 77 years old. Peggy was born in Dearborn Michigan. She was the daughter of Irish immigrants the late Edward and Margaret Gill. She was raised and educated in Everett and graduated from Rosary Academy in Watertown. Peggy and her husband Bob settled in Burlington in 1967 where they raised their 5 children and became involved in the community. Peggy worked as a Data manager at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford and for the IRS in Andover. She enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to Foxwoods. She also loved going to the movies and dining out. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Bowling League for many years. Her most cherished role in life was that of wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Peggy always looked forward to family vacations which always included her children and their families. Her memory will hold a special place in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandson and many friends. Peggy was the beloved wife of Robert S. She was the loving mother of Edward of Palm Springs, CA, Robert of Salem, NH, Marybeth Harrington of Burlington, Michael of Revere, and Daniel of Billerica. She was the sister of the late Donald McConnell, Dorothy Maleski, Edward “Buddy” Gill, and Sister Michael Edward “Auntie Sister”. She was the grandmother of Brenna, Amanda, Daniel, Danny & Luke Matarazzo, Kaitlyn & Jillian Harrington, and the late Alexandra Matarazzo. She was the great grandmother of Joseph. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 8 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery. Memorials in Peggy’s name may be made to St. Margaret’s Building Fund, 111 Winn St., Burlington, MA 01803.
