Obituary of Madaline Buzzell

Madaline I. “Maddie” (Irish) Buzzell, a resident of Burlington for 46 years, passed away surrounded by her family at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Wednesday morning, April 8, 2009. The wife of Gerry Buzzell, she was 75 years old. Maddie was born, raised and educated in Sherman, Maine. She received her nursing degree from Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor Maine. Her concern for others made her a very caring and compassionate nurse. She worked as a nurse for the Grey Nuns in Lexington. She also worked at Malden Hospital where she cared for newborns and as a Private Nurse for a number of select patients. Her other role was that of loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She devotedly watched over her family as well as being a source of strength and support to each of her family members. She welcomed each new member of the family. She was always available when asked for any medical, parenting, or friendly advice. Maddie had many interests. She enjoyed reading, watching television, doing puzzles, ceramics and researching genealogy. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting and sewing. She loved to travel and had visited such places as Oregon, Canada, and California. Maddie had a great love for her family and was always talking about her children and grandchildren. She will hold a special place in the hearts of all her family and friends. Maddie was the beloved wife of Gerry D. Buzzell of Burlington. She was the loving mother of Deidre DeBourke & her partner Mark Rossetti of Manchester, NH, Deborah Wildenberger & her partner Joseph Ameral of Nashua, NH, Gerry Buzzell, Jr. of Burlington & his partner Diana Milley of Tewksbury, Gregory Buzzell & his wife Lisa of Stow, Tracy Buzzell of Burlington, Jennifer Jachowicz & her husband John of Bedford, NH and Matthew Buzzell & his wife Beth of Southboro. She was the sister of Russell Irish of Moscow, TN and the late Gaylon Irish. She was the proud grandmother of Sheana & Robert DeBourke, James Wildenberger, Jessica Heindel, Justine Buzzell, Michael & Cassandra Jachowicz and great grandmother of Adora & Ava Wildenberger. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, April 11 from Noon – 2:00 p.m Followed by Funeral Services at the Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Relatives and Friends respectfully invited. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Maddie’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
