Virginia R. (Bordonaro) Cotta, a resident of Burlington for over 40 years, passed away at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford on Friday, April 16, 2009. She was 71 years old. Virginia was born and raised in the West End of Boston. She worked as an EKG Technician at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. Virginia was an independent woman who led and full and active life despite her blindness. She took karate lessons, went swimming at Shawsheen, and listened to the daily talk shows where she was a regular caller. Virginia was a woman of deep faith. She would take the B-Line to St. Margaret’s where she would attend the 9:00 am Mass daily. Virginia is the beloved mother of Ronald of Burlington and Rhonda Tierney of Waltham. Grandmother of Michael, Shawn, & Ashley Tierney, Sabrina & Stephen Cotta. Great grandmother of Chloe and Audrina. Sister of Lucille Dye, Josephine Maloney, Salvatore Bordonaro and the late Marie Elaine Rothwell. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, April 21 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 6-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
