Obituary of George Clark

George E. Clark, a retired Captain of the Burlington Fire Dept., passed away at the Walden Rehab & Nursing Center on Thursday morning, April 23, 2009. The beloved husband of 40 years of Susan (Cooper), he was 69 years old. George was born and raised in Burlington and was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was the son of the late George Clark and Elizabeth Callahan. George served his country in the United States Army. He was the recipient of the Sharpshooter Badge, Expert Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. George and his wife Susan settled in Woburn where they have resided for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of Middlesex Community College in Bedford. George was a Burlington Fire Fighter retiring after 31 years as a Captain. He was an active man who liked to ski and golf. George loved the beach and had a home in Marshfield that he was very proud of. He enjoyed traveling and had taken a number of cruises as well as visiting such places as Switzerland, Disney and Hawaii. George was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather that will be deeply missed. George was the beloved husband of 40 years of Susan (Cooper). He was the loving father of Michelle Dionne & her husband David and Kerri Poole all of Woburn. He was the brother of Gail Schwab of NC and the late Charles “Chicki” Clark. He was the grandfather of Danielle & Caitlin Poole and Clark & Cameron Dionne. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, April 27 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers memorials in George’s name may be made to the Walden Rehab & Nursing Center Activity Dept., 785 Main St., Concord, MA 01742.
