Obituary of Elizabeth Symmes

Elizabeth H. “Betty” Symmes, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing home on Thursday, April 23, 2009. She was 96 years old. Betty was born in Lawrence. She was the daughter of the late John and Florence Symmes. She lived in Burlington until she was 10 years old when her family moved to Woburn where she lived until returning to Burlington in 1977. Betty worked for 15 years as a secretary at the Center School in Burlington. She 0also worked for Bellofram and Morrissey Brothers both located in Burlington. Betty was a volunteer at the New England Rehab and was a member of the Historical Society in Burlington. Betty was the beloved daughter of the late John and Florence Symmes. Betty was the cousin of Charlotte J. Killam of Greenwich, NY, Steven Killam of Wilton, ME & Marian Mann of Canada. Dear friend of Joan Fantasia of Burlington. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, April 27 at 12:30 p.m. Visiting hours Sunday 4 – 7 p.m. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the Fellowship Bible Church, 71 Center St., Burlington, MA 01803.
