Dorothy Elizabeth Carter leaves a legacy of family. Dorothy Elizabeth Carter passed away on Thursday morning, July 12 surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old.
Dorothy was an extremely independent and outgoing. She lived on her own, managing her affairs, and shopping up until the past few months. She was a longtime volunteer in the Radiology Department of the Saint Elizabeth's Hospital. She loved being with people and giving of herself to others. She enjoyed needle work and crocheting. She had a strong devotion to her family and loved the time spent with immediate and extended family. It gave her great joy to see 10 grandchildren grow up and then to be a great grandmother of 15. For Dorothy, her proudest achievement would be her family.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late James P. Carter. She was the mother of Jan Salvucci & her husband Daniel of Burlington, Edward Carter of Stoneham & his late wife Marlene (Clouther), and the late Sgt. James P. Carter, Jr., Newton Police. She was the sister of Marguerite Kramer of CA, the late Anne Melvin, Elinor Deveau, and Edward Farrell. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 2060 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Memorials in Dorothy's name may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
