Obituary of Elizabeth Edna Oliva
Elizabeth Edna Oliva passed away after a brief illness at the Lawrence General Hospital on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2009. She was 88 years old. Edna was born and raised in Newton. She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Our Lady’s High School in Newton and continued to reside in Newton until she married her husband, James Oliva. They settled in Lexington, where they raised their 3 daughters. She had spent the past 9 years living in Tewksbury.
Edna had a number of interests. She was an avid Bingo player and would often go with her daughter and many of her “Bingo Friends”. She enjoyed going out to dinner. She enjoyed going on long drives which often ended at Brighams for chocolate ice cream. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a proud grandmother and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Edna was the beloved wife of the late James Oliva. She was the loving mother of Janet Lawrence of Lowell, Jeannie Curra & her husband Dino D’Antonio of Burlington, and June White & her husband Bob of Georgia. She was the sister of Robert Fitzgerald of ME, the late Mary Berkeley, and John “Bunny” Fitzgerald, Jr. She was the proud grandmother of Marc & Jon Lawrence, Bobby Curra, Lisa Fisher, Danielle and Jessica White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington, on Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorials in Edna’s name may be made to a Charity of one’s choice. Interment will be private.
