Obituary of Clive Gummeson

Clive Miller Gummeson, a retired printer at Commonwealth Publishing passed away after a short illness at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence on Monday, July 20, 2009. He was 81 years old. Clive was born in Medford, the son of the late Gunner and Lavinia Gummeson. He was a graduate of Medford High School. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the army to fight in World War II. He was discharged in 1948 with the rank of Corporal and was the recipient of the WW II Victory Medal. Clive spent his entire career as a printer in the publishing industry with Commonwealth Publishing being his longest employer. Clive was an avid golfer. His vacations were often destinations that had golf courses such as Florida and South Carolina. He enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends. He had resided in Burlington for 37 years. He had spent the last 11 years living in North Andover. Clive was the husband of 57 years of Sally “Sarah” (Crosby) Loving father of John & his wife Sally of Issaquah, WA and Ken & his companion Ling Tham of Burien, WA. Grandfather of Sonya Crane of Renton, WA. Brother of Virginia Johansen of Boxford, Gloria Griffin of Medford, Betty Noyes of MD, Peggy Faulkner of Medford. Brother-in-law of Irene & Chet O’Connor of N. Andover and Rita Walker of Burlington. Also survived by many inlaws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be private.
