Obituary of Marilyn Fowler

Marilyn R. Fowler, a woman who embraced life, passed away after a long struggle with heart disease on Wednesday night, July 11, 2012 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Marilyn was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late Harold and Frances LaRoche. She grew up in Lowell and was a graduate of Lowell High School. She would go on to earn her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Massachusetts. Marilyn taught elementary school for a number of years as children were one of her greatest joys in life. Marilyn married her husband Wayne in 1968, and they settled in Burlington in 1972 to raise their family. She was a passionate individual who often was described as a “Firecracker”. She was full of energy, spunk, and excitement. She wanted everyone to be happy and together. In her eyes, every holiday needed to be celebrated with decorations and a family gathering. Even while ill, family was her primary concern and she never lost her zest for life. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, the beach, flowers, and parties. She often traveled on town sponsored trips. When Marilyn was in the room, everyone knew it. She was a courageous and determined individual who embraced life on her terms. She leaves her family with countless memories filled with laughter and love. Marilyn was the beloved wife of 44 years of Wayne D. Fowler. She was the loving mother of Trisha Forsyth & her husband Kevin of Acton, Holly Viglione & her husband Stephen of Burlington, Sean and his wife Melanie of Burlington, and Michael & his wife Ling of Burlington. She was the sister of Linda James of Lynnfield. She was the proud and fun grandmother of Michael, Nicholas, Arick, FitzAnthony, Kizazeal, Lilarose, Jacoti, Ariella, Arimax, Ariordainan, Phineas, & Quainluke Forsyth all of Acton, Alexander, Jennavieve, Sophya, & Annaliesa Viglione, and Laelia, Ilex, and Pieris Fowler. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, July 17 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.
