Obituary of Charles Van Buskirk

Charles Raymond “Ray” Van Buskirk passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Monday morning, June 5, 2006. The husband of 51 years of Marjorie (Merrow) Van Buskirk, he was 80 years. Ray had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed going fishing and was also known to go deep-sea fishing. He had an interest in birds especially “loons” which can be found in both the salt-water and the fresh water. He loved gardening and was very proud of his garden. He grew all types of flowers and vegetable plants. His specialty were his tomato plants. Ray was also a talented artist and enjoyed working with pastels and watercolor paintings. He took art classes at the Senior Center every Friday morning. He also had a love for animals most especially his two dogs. Ray and his family owned a home in New Hampshire where they spent many happy times together during the summer. Ray is the beloved husband of Marjorie (Merrow). He is the loving father of Jane & her husband Gary Johnson of Burlington. He is the brother of Mabel Bainbridge of Malden, Leslie Van Buskirk of Burlington, and the late John Franklin Van Buskirk, Paul Howard Van Buskirk, and Pearl Angelick. He is the loving uncle of Patricia Gilcrest of VA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 8 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Memorials in Ray’s name may be made to the Lahey Clinic Hematology Dept., 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805.
