Obituary of Edward Blaum

Edward B. Blaum, late owner of Kitchen Contractor, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Thursday, August 27, 2009. The beloved husband of Elsie (Mainiero-Cipoletta) Blaum. He was 89 years old. Edward was born in Valdosta, GA. He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country in General Patton’s 4th Armored Division that stormed its way across Western European Front into Prague and that included one on the major battles of WW II, the Battle of the Bulge. Edward participated in the following battles and campaigns; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was extremely proud to have served under General George S. Patton and as a member of the 4th Armored Division. Edward was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Bronze Star Medal. He attended numerous reunions with his fellow comrades. His daily attire frequently included his 4th Armored Division hat. He continued his support of the armed services through his involvement in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Elks. Edward had a successful career as a General Contractor for over 30 years specializing in the design, remodeling, and renovation of residential properties. His specialty was kitchen renovations. After he retired, and the past twenty-three years Edward would split the year half the year in Cape Coral, Florida and Burlington. He loved the warm weather and enjoyed entertaining friends and family in Florida. He enjoyed to travel, watching the stock market, and working around the house. He joked and believed that all you need in life could be found at Walmart. He was extremely generous to local charities, especially the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch in Boys Ranch, Florida. He leaves many loving family members and friends. Edward was the husband of Elsie (Mainiero-Cipoletta) Blaum. He was the father of Mary V. van der Linden and Charles Blaum both of Worcester. He was the brother of Gordon Blaum of FL. He is the stepfather of Paul Cipoletta of Chepachet, RI, Diane Oliver of Woburn, Carol Collier of Billerica and Lisa Bradanick of Salem, NH. He was the grandfather of 12. He was also survived by his beloved dogs Tracy and Sasha. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
