Obituary of June Metzdorf

June Marie Metzdorf, a former model, passed away after a long illness at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Sunday morning, September 6, 2009. She was 84 years old. June was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred Ereth. She grew up and was educated in Rochester, NY. She went on to have a very successful career as a professional model/cover girl. She started her modeling career at the age of 12 while attending St. Andrews School. She continued her career while at Mercy High School, then Nazareth College, until she was a mother of twin girls. In 1949, she was one of 2 Eastman Kodak Company models assigned to the National Photographer’s Convention and was featured in the company’s internationally distributed publications. She also worked with commercial photographers and in fashion shows. Her photographs were in magazines, billboards, newspapers, as well as other forms of media. Although she enjoyed the experience and excitement of such a glamorous career, she chose to place her career second behind being a wife and mother. June raised her 2 daughters and son in Burlington, MA. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the St. Louis Catholic Church in her hometown of Rochester, NY. As a young wife, she chaired many events at the University of Rochester. She volunteered at the Choate Symmes Hospital in Arlington, MA. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. June was the wife of the late Daniel W. Metzdorf. She was the loving mother of Sheryl Ann Metzdorf of Malden, Cathie Ann Metzdorf of Boston, and David Metzdorf & his wife Martha of Burlington. She was the sister of Joyce Parker of Rochester, NY. She was the grandmother of Erik Metzdorf & his wife Kerry of Newburyport, Daniel, Drew & Madison Metzdorf of Burlington and great grandmother of Caroline & Courtney Metzdorf of Newburyport. She also leaves behind two nieces and three nephews in the Rochester, New York area. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., BURLINGTON at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
