Obituary of Helen L. McInerney

Helen L. McInerney, a retired office manager and WW II Veteran passed away after a long illness at the Mount Carmel Nursing Facility on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. She was 88 years old. Helen was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Richard and Gertrude May. She grew up and was educated in Somerville. She was a graduate of Somerville High School. She proudly served her country during World War II in the Navy holding the rank of Pharmacist Mate. (It would be nice to add information of where and when she served and possible medals). After the War, she continued her support for our countries military through involvement in the American Legion in Burlington. Helen was a very independent and confident woman. She retired from Tritek Inc. in Burlington after 18 years with the company. She had worked as a Manufacturing Representative and then Office Manager for the Company. She had previous worked at Café Escadrille as a Waitress where she made many friendships. Helen had spent the last 25 years living in Bedford and Manchester, NH with her daughter. She had previously lived in Burlington, MA for over 30 years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family and friends. Helen was the wife of the late John M. McInerney. She was the loving mother of Lorraine McDermott & her husband Fred of Manchester, NH and Michael of Gilbert, AZ. She was the grandmother of Sarah McDermott of Nashua, NH & her fiancé, Michael Simenou, William McDermott & his wife Alicia of Manchester, NH, Mark McDermott of Manchester, NH, and Nicole McInerney of Gilbert, AZ. She was the sister of Lorraine Britton of Phoenix, AZ, the late Robert, Ruth, and Edward May. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, July 20 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours on Thursday form 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
