Obituary of Barbara Lander

Barbara A. (Bartlett-Bielasz) Lander of Burlington passed away after a long illness at her home in Burlington on Friday morning, September 25, 2009. She was 79 years old. Barbara was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Carl and Nora Bartlett. She grew up and was educated in Boston and Prides Crossing in Beverly. She had worked as a purchasing agent for most of her working career. She had worked at Textron Industries, which was formerly AVCO. She had previously worked at Inforex in Burlington. Even in her retirement years, she had worked part time at Harvey Industries until 2006. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She cherished the time spent with family. She was a great cook and loved involving her grandchildren in the kitchen. She enjoyed her vacations shared with family friends. Prides Crossing , where she spent her summers as a youth holds a dear place in heart. She enjoyed summering at Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire. She loved going on cruises. She enjoyed wintering in Seminole, FL. She embraced live and will be lovingly remembered. Barbara became a Friend of Bill W. in 1968. She was described as a “Champion of the underdog.” She was extremely involved in AA as a member and sponsor. She was a true friend to those in need of assistance and helped others to get their lives back in order. When she was at the end of her illness and too weak to attend her meetings, the group came to her home so she could participate. Barbara was the wife of Charles Lander and the late Robert Bielasz. Loving mother of Noreen Novelline & her husband Gary of Peabody, Priscilla Loiselle of Burlington, Barbara Davis & her husband Andrew of Milford, NH, Margaret Reppucci & her husband Stephen of Andover, Rebecca Morgan of Tewksbury, Estelle Burdick & her husband Gary of Burlington, and Roberta Bielasz. Sister of Carl Bartlett of Prides Crossing, Josephine Kind of AZ, the late William Bartlett and Betty Severini. Grandmother of Melissa Loiselle, Jonathan Lugo, Katie Davis, PFC Drew Davis USMC, Michael, Amanda, David & Kristen Repucci, Danielle, Christopher & Justin Moore, Cameron Burdick & William Dunbar. Great grandmother of Jenna Fish, Alexis and Nevaeh Moore. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barbara’s name may be made to Care Alternatives, 181 Cedar Hill Rd, Marlborough, MA 01752.
