Obituary of Marie Verrier

Verrier, Marie J. (Murray) passed away at her home on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2009. She was 71 years old. Marie was born in Medford, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Murray. She grew up and was educated in Medford. She married her husband Al in 1957 and they settled in Burlington in 1960 to start a family. She was a homemaker as well as a Pharmacist Support Clerk working at MEDCO in Wilmington for 8 years. She had previously worked at BASF in Bedford for 13 years. Marie was a woman that was full of energy and life. She made time to spend with her husband, children and many friends. She enjoyed going to Bingo with her friends. Marie was a member of several bowling leagues and enjoyed golfing as well. She loved traveling with her family and friends. Bermuda was one of her favorite destinations. In Bermuda, she had many friends, including the members of the band, “The Bermuda Strollers”. At one point, Marie had visited Bermuda 13 years in a row. Marie enjoyed camping with her family. Pine Acres in Raymond, NH, and Wyman’s Beach in Westford, were her favorite campgrounds. Since her children were involved in the Drum and Bugle Corps, she volunteered a considerable amount of her time to the Bedford Militiamen and Middlesex County Guardsman Drum and Bugle Corps. She served as an officer for the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 221 in Bedford. Marie was supportive of her husband’s involvement in the Burlington Knights of Columbus, attending the many socials, installations, and charity events. Marie made the most of her time, before her health limited her ability. Marie was the beloved wife of 52 years to Alfred J. Verrier. She was the loving mother of Theresa Romkey & her husband Barry of Burlington, Joyce Monsignore & her husband Scott of Burlington, Jacqueline Amato & her husband Vincent of Billerica, and Alfred Verrier, Jr. & his wife Sandra of Lowell. She was the sister of Mary Shea & her husband Joseph of Billerica and Thomas Murray & his wife Hanna of Spain. She was the loving Nana of James & Jason Monsignore, Brianne & Brett Romkey, Anthony & Nicole Amato, and Matthew Verrier. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
