Obituary of Agnes Springer

Agnes M. (Macdonald ) Springer, passed away at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Home, on Monday afternoon, July 16, 2012. The beloved wife of the late Roy J. Springer, she was 95 years old. Agnes was born in Somerville. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Agnes MacDonald . Agnes was raised and educated in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. She went on to graduate from Fisher College. Agnes and her husband Roy settled in Burlington in 1954 where they raised their 4 children. Agnes’s primary role in life was that of wife and mother. She also worked as a Bookkeeper for the family business Springer Auto Service located on Washington St., in Newton. Agnes had a full and active life. She enjoyed bowling and ceramics. She was an avid Red Sox Fan. Agnes and Roy loved to go camping and travelling. They travelled cross country throughout the United States in their Motor Home on two separate occasions. Agnes loved her home on Alma Road and was popular with all the children in the neighborhood and she was affectionately known as the “lollipop lady.” Family was the most important part of Agnes’s life. She was the “Matriach” of the Springer family always organizing barbeques, picnics and family holidays. Babysitting her grandchildren was one of her favorite pastimes and brought her so much joy! It wasn’t unusual for Agnes & Roy to have the grandchildren for a weekend visit! Agnes leaves behind a legacy of family and love. Agnes was the beloved wife of the late Roy J. Springer. She was the loving mother of Donald & his wife Judith of North Grafton, Stephen & his wife Karen of Boxford, Claire O’Leary & her husband James “Larry” of Boynton Beach, FL and Carol Leiter & her husband Myron of Wayland. Sister of the late Philip A. & Paul MacDonald. Agnes is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren & 6 great great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, July 21 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 12 Noon. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Woodbriar of Wilmington Employee Family Assistance Fund, 90 West St., Wilmington MA 01887.
