Obituary of Christopher DiPerna

Christopher T. DiPerna, a retired Real Estate Banker, passed away at his home on Monday morning, October 12, 2009. He was 86 years old. Christopher was born in Somerville, the son of Italian immigrants, the late Costanzo and Emma DiPerna. He grew up in Somerville. He was a graduate of Somerville Vocational School where he played basketball. He joined the Navy during WW II serving as a Pharmacist Mate Third Class. He was discharged on Christmas Eve of 1945. He had worked as a Real Estate Banker for First National Bank in Boston for over 30 years. After he retired, he worked for 7 more years as a sorter for the Postal Service in South Boston. Christopher had a number of interests and activities. He was a huge fan of the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed horse racing and enjoyed spending Saturday afternoons with his friends at Suffolk Downs. He loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband. He was a proud and caring father. He would take his sons on outings to the Boston Garden to see the Celtics or Indoor Track and Field meets. He loved taking his family to Walden Pond and Nahant Beach for a day of fun and leisure. He loved spending the holidays with his family and especially enjoyed the DiPerna tradition of playing family board games as part of the day’s festivities. He will be remembered by his relatives for his independence, faith, and devotion to his family and friends. Christopher was the beloved husband of the late Rose M. (DeMango) DiPerna. He was the loving father of David C. DiPerna & his wife Karen of Burlington, Stephen M. DiPerna of Burlington, and Kenneth C. DiPerna of Bridgewater. He was the brother of Thomas DiPerna of Woburn, the late Sylvia Kezima, Mary Coppola, and Josephine Troiano. He was the devoted grandfather of Christine Lawson, Lauren Burgess, Kathleen, Stephen, and Cara DiPerna and great grandfather of Crystal, Mark, and Stephanie Lawson. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, October 15 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
