Obituary of Mary DiLeo

Mary (Sodi) DiLeo, passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2009. The wife of the late Antonio “Tony” DiLeo who passed away in 1972, she was 96 years old. Mary was born and raised in Cambridge. She was one of 11 children born to Italian immigrants the late Domenic and Alexandriana Sodi. Mary lived in Somerville for many years. She and her husband moved to Winchester for a brief period before returning to Somerville. Mary had her hairdresser’s license and also worked in the Cosmetic Department at Bradlees Dept. Store. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing and playing bingo. She was always there for her family whether it be a holiday dinner, a birthday celebration or babysitting her grandchildren. Mary was blessed to have a life than spanned 96 years filled with the love of her family. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Antonio “Tony” DiLeo. She was the loving mother of Mary Ann Annese of Burlington & her late husband John “Jack”, Rosalie Standard & her husband Michael of Boxford, Francis & his wife Vi of Atkinson, NH and Anthony & his wife Susan of Calais, ME. She was the sister of Theresa Stubeda of Derry, NH, Susan Stubeda of Somerville, and the late Linda Monti, Josephine Ciano, Amelia Ranelli, Helen Simpson, Louie Ranelli, Joseph, Loretta, & Albert Sodi. Mary is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, October 29 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., BURLINGTON at 12 Noon. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Memorials in Mary’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
