Obituary of Anna Pierce

Anna L. Pierce, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away after a long illness on Friday morning, October 30, 2009, at 80 years old. Anna was born in the family home in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Edward and Marcella Praetz. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School and Boston University. Anna and her late husband, Jack both went to Boston University, but it was in Hampton Beach, that they really first met. Hampton Beach was a special place for both of them as well as their entire family. They enjoyed a family home there which has been the summer gathering place filled with laughter and lasting memories for the entire Pierce clan for three generations. Anna had a number of activities and interests. She was a member of the Winton Club and the Winchester Estates Garden Club. She was a member of several bowling leagues. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Europe and other parts of the United States and the world, but her favorite vacation destination was Bermuda. Anna’s proudest accomplishment was that of wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a caring and understanding mother who had a home that welcomed all her children, grandchildren, and all friends. She loved being a grandmother. Anna loved to get down in the sand with the grandkids, join them in a soccer game, or swim with them all in the ocean. She also enjoyed the many trips she took with her children and grandchildren. She was all set to dress up this Halloween to make the holiday more special. Anna leaves a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter and happiness. Anna was the beloved wife of the late John A. Pierce, Jr. She was the loving mother of John A. Pierce, III & his wife Amy of Winchester, Edward M. Pierce & his wife Zoe of Bedford, Kevin L. Pierce & his wife Sharon of Tewksbury, Carole A. Connolly & her husband Charlie of Winchester, Linda M. Tedesco & her husband Jay of Winchester, and Kimberley A. Mulholland & her husband Jim of Eldersburg, MD. She was the sister of Helen Dehm of Andover and Marcella Quandt of Hampton, NH. Anna is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Brighid, Jacquelynne, Lindsay, Caroline, Tyler, Colin, Connor, Scout, Sean, Mackenzie, Bryce, Shannon, Colby, Caitlin, Campbell, Madison, and Erin. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, November 3 at 8:45 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Eulalia’s Church, Winchester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
