Obituary of Margaret Garland
Margaret (Gimblett) Garland, a longtime resident of Cambridge, passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center on Friday evening, November 13, 2009. She was 75 years old. Peggy was born, raised and educated in Arlington. She was the daughter of Irish Immigrants the late Daniel and Margaret Gimblett. Peggy worked for over 30 years as a Superintendent at the Elliot House at Harvard University. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods and taking trips to Las Vegas. She was a sports enthusiast and followed all the Boston Sports Teams. Peggy had a friendly outgoing personality and was loved by everyone whose lives she touched.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Alvin Garland & Stanley R. Day, She was the loving mother of Stanley Day & his wife Jennifer of Marlborough, Annmarie Hill & her husband Francis of Somerville and the late Dorothy Day and Margaret DeLeo. Peggy was the sister of Dottie Annese & her husband Jack of Burlington and Peter Gimblett & his wife Evelyn of South Dennis. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Memorials in Peggy’s name may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Sylvan Rd., G-500, Woburn, MA 01801.
