Obituary of Maryanne Callahan

Maryanne (Weisse) Callahan, a resident of Burlington for 34 years, passed away at her home on Wednesday morning, Dec. 9, 2009. The wife of Burlington Fire Chief Lee Callahan for 36 years, she was 56 years old. Maryanne was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1971 graduate of Woburn High School. Maryanne and her husband settled in Burlington in 1975, where she raised her two children. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Erland Construction for the past 9 years. She had previously worked for Tocci Building for 9 years. Maryanne was an active member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Methuen and previously at the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington. She was a volunteer for many of the church ministries including nursery care and youth groups. She was always concerned about others, rather than herself. Maryanne and her family had a vacation home in Center Harbor on Lake Waukewan where they enjoyed spending time together as a family. She was blessed to have three grandchildren Owen and twins Isobel and Chloe whom she adored and loved to spend time with. Maryanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Maryanne was the beloved wife of Burlington Fire Chief Lee Callahan. She was the loving mother of David & his wife Heather of Haverhill and Erin Stevens & her husband Scott of Woburn. She was the daughter of Eleanor Weisse of Burlington and the late Joseph Weisse. Grandmother of Owen, Isobel & Chloe Callahan. Sister of Joseph Weisse & his wife Fran of Natick and Jan Romano & her husband Robert of Burlington. Daughter-in-law of Jean Callahan of Burlington and the late Daniel Callahan. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of The Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, December 12 at Noon. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
