Obituary of Bruce Garvey

Bruce F. Garvey, owner of BF Garvey & Sons Electrical Contractors in Woburn, passed away at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Wednesday morning, December 9, 2009, he was 63 years old. Bruce was born in Boston. He was raised and educated in Woburn and was a 1964 graduate of Woburn High School. He lived in Woburn until 1975 when he moved to Burlington where he lived until moving back to Woburn in 1997. Bruce was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country in the United States Army. He had owned his own business for the past 24 years and he was proud to have his two sons Chad and Curt work with him. Bruce was an avid sports fan with football being one of his favorite sports. He would go to Patriots games and had attended a football game at the University of Notre Dame just three weeks ago. He loved to travel to Ft. Lauderdale and Key West in Florida for the boat races. He would travel to Saratoga in New York to attend horse racing. He enjoyed skiing and snowmobiling at Gunstock, Attitash and Cannon Mtn. He also liked to go boating and water skiing. Bruce was a member of the Woburn Lions Club and a past member of the Woburn Elks and VFW. Bruce loved being around family and friends. He liked to entertain at his home with Christmas being one of his favorite holidays. Bruce will be remembered as a warm and loving free spirited man who lived his life to the fullest. Bruce was the beloved Fiancé of Sandi Melanson of Woburn. He was the loving father of Cheryl Burnham & her companion Tim Pitman of Danvers, Chad & his wife Beth of Townsend and Curt of Burlington. he was the devoted son of Lois Garvey of Gilford, NH & Billerica and the late Francis W. He was the brother of Sandra O’Flaherty & her husband Peter of Billerica. Grandfather of Ashley & Andrew Burnham and Dylan, Dakota & Drew Garvey. Also survived by Kiley and Kasey Melanson of Woburn. Former husband of Cathy Garvey of Danvers. Also survived by his dog Kia. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Dec. 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Westview Cemetery, Lexington.
