Obituary of Marie Whitty

Marie E, Whitty leaves a legacy of family. Marie passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, January 7, 2010 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. She was 90 years old. Marie was born in Plymouth, the daughter of Canadian immigrants, the late Augustave and Lillian LeBlanc. She grew up and was educated in Plymouth and Roslindale. She married Paul Whitty and they would have 6 children. Paul owned and operated Sweezey Lumber in Malden and South Boston. It was a demanding career, which involved long hours. Marie gladly embraced her role in their marriage of homemaker. She raised her 6 children and made a warm and loving home for them. She supported her husband, children, and grandchildren in their careers, activities, interests, and dreams. She was a friend, advisor, and a role model, all rolled up in a beautiful lady. She will be lovingly remembered and missed greatly by all her family Marie was the beloved wife of the late Paul W. Whitty. She was the loving mother of Dianne Hovasse & her husband Richard of Burlington, Marie Burke & her late husband Edmund of Billerica, Paul Whitty & his wife Denise of Nashville, TN, Susan Hamalainen & her husband John of Westford, the late Robert and Scott Whitty. She was the sister of Carol Cronin of Hyde Park, Lillian Cushing of ME, the late Francis and Bernard LeBlanc. She was also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, January 11 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret's Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marie's name may be made to BEAM (Billerica Early Assistance Model), c/o BMHS, 35 River St., Billerica, MA 01821.
