Margaret C. (Perry) Ponte, a resident of Burlington since 1972, passed away at the Golden Living Center in Gloucester on Wednesday, January 20, 2010. The wife of the late Gilbert A. Ponte, she was 90 years old. Margaret was born in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Christina Perry. She was raised and educated in Somerville. Margaret devoted her life to her creating and loving home for her husband and children. Margaret was an avid bowler and belonged to a league in Burlington for many years. She traveled with her husband Gilbert to Europe many times, vacationed in Hawaii, the Caribbean, Colorado, Oregon and California. Margaret’s happiest time was when she spent time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to entertain her family and friends. There was always a party going on at the Ponte residence and Margaret loved to cook elaborate meals which were followed by family entertainment. Margaret leaves a legacy of love and family. Margaret is the beloved wife of the late Gilbert A. Ponte. She is the loving mother of Dennis Sousa & his wife Pru of OR, Wayne Sousa & his wife Mary of Salem and Marlene Gourgoumis & her husband George of Burlington. Sister of the late Laura Perry. Grandmother of Ellen Molitor, Captain Andrew Gourgoumis, Melisa Gourgoumis, Jay, Carolyn, & Cynthia Sousa. Great grandmother of Farrah & Taylor Sousa and Amanda Molitor. Sister-in-law of Albert & Zenaide Cabral and Eduarda Ponte. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, Jan. 25 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
