Obituary of Godfrey Larson

Godfrey “Jim” Larson, a resident of Burlington for 55 years, passed away at the Lexington Health Care Center on Thursday morning, October 12, 2006. The husband of Mary V. (Ryan) for 66 years, he was 86 years old. Jim was born in Boston. He was the son of the late Godfrey and Elizabeth Larson. He was raised and educated in the South End of Boston. Jim was employed for 50 years as a Truck Driver. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 25 and worked for many years at Smiths Transfer in South Boston. After he retired, he spent 10 years driving the van for the Burlington Council on Aging. He knew the importance of the service to the seniors and he would gladly extend himself to even carrying the seniors’ bundles to their doors. Jim enjoyed all sports, particularly Baseball. He enjoyed bowling on Saturday nights with his family. He loved to travel. Jim and his wife Mary had taken trips throughout the United States as well as Europe. They also enjoyed taking scenic trips throughout New England. Jim was a loving and devoted family man. He was very proud of his grandchildren and helped to raise his grandsons. Jim is the beloved husband of Mary V. (Ryan) Larson. He is the loving father of Elizabeth (Larson) Devine of Framingham and James Larson & his wife Frances of Haverhill. He is the grandfather of Steven Devine, James Mark Devine, Keith Devine, Tiffany Larson and Christa Larson. A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, October 14 from 9 – 10 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. Retired member of Local 25.
