Obituary of Margot Hasek
Margot Hasek 82 was a loving mother and grandmother and a devoted wife. She was born in Budapest, Hungary and earned Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Eotvos Lorant University. She was a diplomatic attaché in Turkey representing Hungary. She immigrated to the US in 1957 after the Hungarian Revolution and has been a 40 year resident of Framingham. Margot was an entrepreneur in the export business – exporting American cars to Europe in the 70’s. She loved designing clothes and designed and made the evening wear that she wore to many formal events. She worked with many charities especially the Wellesley College cupboard to help needy students. She loved attending sporting events with her family and was in attendance at Olympic games, World Cup finals and many Celtics Championships in the 60’s and 80’s. Margot could be found at all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and their many activities, she and her late son Frank were the only babysitters her grandchildren ever had. Everyone called her Anyu which means mom in Hungarian. She was called this because she loved kids and treated them all like her own. One of her other passions was cooking. She was a gourmet cook and loved to cook for her family and their many friends. Anyu loved to travel and spent many vacations in Europe, Canada and all over the United States. She never missed an opportunity to help others not just family and friends but strangers too.
Margot is the beloved wife of 59 years of Frank A. She was the loving mother of Bela C. & his wife Kathy of Burlington and the late Frank J. Sister of Johnny Gyory of Sweden, Ilona Gyory of Hungary and the late Laci Gyory. Grandmother of Bela C., II and Katy F. both of Burlington. Cousin of Helen Babel and Leslie Babel both of Canada. Aunt of Johnnie Lucas of Sweden and Barbara Odler of Hungary. Great aunt of Nicole Lucas and Angelika Hajdu. A memorial wake will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, April 3 from 2 – 4 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
