Obituary of Charles Weeks

Charles Weeks, Jr., a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Sunday evening, April 11, 2010. The husband of the late Ruth I. (Weeks) who passed away in 2007, he was 80 years old. Mr. Weeks was born in Chelsea. He was raised and educated in Medford. He was the son of the late Charles and Stephanie Weeks. Mr. Weeks went MIT to study auto and electrical training. He had just married his wife Ruth when he was called to serve his country in the United States Army. While in the army he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Merit Unit Citation, and the United Nations Service Medal. After leaving the service he went to work as an auto mechanic for a service station in Logan Airport and eventually went to work at the airport full-time. Mr. Weeks was very handy with electrical work as well as automotive. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. He was an avid reader who was always looking to “learn” more. He enjoyed “shooting the breeze” with his family, friends and neighbors. Mr. Weeks was the beloved husband of the late Ruth I. (Whitman). He was the Loving father of Susann Irwin of NH and Charles Weeks, III of Alabama. Brother of Virginia Neisius of FL, Thomas Weeks of Medford, and the late Edward and Gerald. Grandfather of Timothy & Melanie Weeks and Christopher & Katie Luszey. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday April 15 at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorials in Charles’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
