Obituary of Neal Wilde
Neal Edward Wilde, passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 14, 2010 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 64 years old.
He grew up in Charlestown and in Burlington. He was a graduate of Burlington High School. Neal served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a Specialist 5th Class. He served almost 3 years in the Army with half of that being spent overseas. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal for “meritorious service in support of military operations against communist aggression in the Republic of Vietnam”. He was very proud of his service to his country and it was his wish to be buried in National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne. Over the years he held a number of occupations, including; night manager of his family’s package store call the, Liquor Cabinet, in Burlington, cab driver, and expeditor at a government research lab in Natick. He was a big Red Sox and NASCAR fan. He loved cars and was proud to have owned several Corvettes over his life time. He had a great interest in military and world history. He was a good friend, brother, and uncle.
He was the son of the late Margaret and Albert Wilde, Sr. He was the brother of Albert Wilde, Jr. & his wife Mary of Woburn, Richard Wilde of Burlington, and Judith Bowles & her husband James of Dunbarton, NH. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Monday, April 19 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 p.m. Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Tuesday, April 20 at 1:15 p.m. Memorials in Neal’s name may be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
