Marion C. (Hourihan) Covert will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Nana, and Nana Nana. Marion was born in Boston the daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret McGinnis. She grew up in Charlestown. She attended Saint Mary’s Elementary School and Charlestown High School. She married Thomas Covert in February of 1946 and they started a family a year later. They made their home in Charlestown until 1960 when they moved to Burlington. She loved the mystique that Charlestown provided. She had friends and neighbors from childhood. She was proud to be considered a Charlestown “Townie”. Even after moving to Burlington, she spent every Saturday night in Charlestown visiting family and friends. She was a Bruins fan since a teenager. She could walk to the Boston Garden from home and enjoyed watching the games with her husband, family, and friends. Her favorite Bruin was Derek Sanderson. She cherished celebrating St. Patrick Day with friends in New York. In 1966 her husband, Tom passed away and Marion was forced into the role of both homemaker and provider. She worked at Sylvania, Salada Tea, and then BASF in Bedford. She tried extremely hard to balance providing for her 4 children as well as keep a stable home. She was unselfish and always put her family’s needs above her own. She gave them a warm and caring home, home cooked meals, laughter, and love.
